Specify by size band and finish
Trade names vary between suppliers. Specifying '20–30 mm natural rounded pebble, mid-grey' makes quotations comparable in a way that a product name never does.
Design for low maintenance
Commercial beds rarely get weekly attention. Larger grades resist displacement, mid-tones hide dust, and generous depth delays the point at which the membrane shows through.
Plan supply with the programme
Order the full colour requirement in one lot where the budget allows — natural stone varies between batches. Where phasing is unavoidable, share the schedule with the enquiry so availability can be checked for each phase.
