Polished pebbles are tumbled to remove surface roughness, which deepens the natural colour of the stone and leaves a smooth, slightly reflective surface. The difference is most visible in white and black material, where polishing lifts contrast dramatically.

Because the surface is closed rather than porous, polished pebbles stay cleaner in interior settings and look their best in areas where they are seen from close range: entrance lobbies, planters, indoor water bowls and feature walls.

Selection advice

Polished stone shows dust more readily than natural stone in open outdoor areas — best used where it can be cleaned.
Choose smaller grades for planters and bowls; 20–50 mm for feature beds seen from a distance.
Black polished pebbles read almost jet black when wet, which makes them effective around water.

Maintenance

Wipe or rinse with clean water; avoid acidic cleaners on carbonate stones.
Re-rinse interior stone every few weeks to keep the sheen visible.
Do not use wire brushes, which scratch the polished surface.
