Unpolished pebbles are supplied as they come from the source, cleaned and graded but not surface-treated. The finish is matte and slightly textured, and the colour is lighter and softer than the same stone would appear polished.

For large areas this is usually the sensible specification. Polishing adds cost per tonne, and in wide open landscaping the gloss is barely perceptible from normal viewing distances.
