Build the drainage first
In Kochi, Guwahati or coastal Goa, any decorative bed without a free-draining base becomes a puddle. Get the drainage layer and outlets right before choosing the visible stone.
Size against displacement
Heavy runoff moves fine material. Larger grades from 30 mm upwards, with firm edging, stay where they are put through a full monsoon.
Living with algae
Persistent damp encourages algae on shaded stone. Darker material disguises it; a rinse at the end of the wet season clears the worst of it.
