Tumbling rolls stone with abrasive material until sharp edges are worn away. The result sits between natural and fully polished: the surface is smooth and pleasant to handle but keeps a satin rather than a mirror finish.
This makes tumbled stone a good middle option for interiors and planters, where fully polished material can look artificial and natural stone can look unfinished.
