How Pebble Size Affects Landscaping Cost
The cheapest rate per tonne is not always the cheapest finished bed.

Coverage per tonne changes with grade
Fine grades pack tighter and cover more area at a given depth. Large grades leave more void, so a tonne goes less far — but they can often be laid slightly shallower without the membrane showing.
Sorting adds cost
Single-colour, tightly graded material requires more processing than a natural mixed blend. Where budget matters and the look allows it, mixed natural material is the efficient choice.
Freight is part of the price
Stone is heavy and freight is a real component of the delivered cost, particularly for long-distance destinations. Compare delivered prices, not ex-yard rates.
