A steel-town landscape shaped by industry
Durgapur grew up around its steel and heavy engineering industries, and that industrial planning heritage carries through into how the city's landscaping is structured today. Much of the demand for pebbles here traces back either directly to plant and office frontage work or to the residential townships that were built to house the workforce, giving Durgapur a more centrally planned, functional landscaping culture than cities that grew organically around commerce or agriculture.
Grey pebbles and landscaping pebbles are the most frequently requested materials, chosen for their ability to look tidy and low-maintenance across large frontage areas without needing the kind of ongoing attention a more delicate decorative stone might require in an industrial setting exposed to dust and vehicle movement.
